Good Speech and Language Therapy should always be functional and personalized. When a young person is learning outdoors, it makes sense to support their communication and interaction outdoors too. Rather than using separate exercises or simulations, and then trying to generalize skills back into everyday activities, I prefer to join in with what the young person is already doing, whether that's grooming a horse, planting tomatoes or building a treehouse.
Yes, as part of a Personal Budget or when commissioned directly by a school or Alternative Provision. I can only accept direct payment from the parent/carer or the school/Alternative Provision. I can't accept EHCP work within Surrey as it conflicts with my other SLT work there.
